In the beginning...

I am Mayme's granddaughter, well one of them anyway. :) Why, you wonder, is this important?  Mayme shaped who I am today and for years each time I heard the song "Who I Am", I'd sing "I am Mayme's granddaughter, the spitting image of no one in my family ( this is true, but oddly enough I look like my in laws) and when the day is done my poodle's still my biggest fan. I'm clueless and I'm clumsy, but I got friends that love me. That's who I am".  Mayme was an absolutely amazing woman.  She truly could do it all.  Pulled from high school to support her family, she learned to cook, sew and garden early on. She was ferociously dedicated to her family, taking in her niece when her beloved sister was ill, assisting her sister in law when her brother passed away early and unexpectedly and making sure her other brother was well cared for after his wife died of Alzheimer's. Oh, and then there was me. She took my mother and I in, when my father left shortly after I was born. I left my role as a CPA in corporate America after the birth of my son nearly a year ago. This blog will be my ramblings on transitioning from my suits to sweatpants and how I try daily to live up to the amazing woman Mayme was.
